Kaburo Kobia is a Communications and digital media professional with broad experience in project management.
She has nearly 20 year experience in digital media and communications. Over the last six years she has worked in Kenya for a government agency managing IT projects specifically focused on promoting local digital content. Her work seeks to ensure Kenyans have access to relevant web and mobile applications. She works closely with the creative sector and Kenyan start-ups. With a passion for sharing and mentoring, she has supported many young companies and entrepreneurs.
Previously, Kaburo worked as Communications Director at the World YWCA, a global not-for-profit organisation headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland that reaches 25 million women. Here Kaburo strengthened her skills in event planning and issue-based advocacy. She introduced to the organisation new media tools that helped the organisation deepen its interaction with young women around the world.
Kaburo has also worked in the private sector with start-ups and media companies. She has been described as a tech early-adopter and is particularly interested in the ways digital media is transforming content creation and consumption.
Kaburo has an MA in Design for Interaction from the University of Westminster and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ohio Wesleyan University.
